About my work:
Art, for me, is a pretext, a reason to ask questions, to bridge gaps, to try to understand the world and its inhabitants more deeply. I also see it as inseparable from our humanity. Since the first markings on cave walls, every creative gesture has been part of an ongoing attempt to expand our physical, mental and emotional presence in the world. I'm drawn to that impulse to improve and to leave a trace that can lead to dialogue or bridge a gap.
I move between mediums because I value the position of the learner. I seek out mentors, collaborators, and new tools materials as a way to stay responsive. Understanding how and why things are the way they are, either socially, historically, or materially is central to my process. It’s a way of making sense of the world.
Ultimately, I see creation as a form of gratitude. The act of making is both inquiry and offering a conversation with the world that begins in wonder, and hopefully contributes with something beneficial in return.
